    • Painting almost certainly based on that of his grandson (see following) who reputedly resembled him closely. From the Virginia SAR website.

    • Campbell was approximately 35 years old in 1780, and was approximately 36 years old when he died.
  • Grave
    • per KM NPS handbook, 1955, above, died 22 August 1781 and was buried at Rocky Mills, Hanover Co. VA. In 1823 his remains were moved to "Aspenvale" (near the present town of Abingdon VA) to the family burial ground.
