This is a large-scale period (1786) map of the area involved. It is very probable that the source of information for this portion of the map was provided by John Foster whose home is shown as his nearest neighbor to the east on Fairforest Creek. The Thomas home is shown west of the junction of Kelso (Kelsey) and Fairforest Creeks and south of Fairforest Creek near the junction of roads turning southward (closely approximating State Road S-42-1034). The Benson map distance scale is not useful here. A plat record could improve this location. Location basis.

"Loyalist Lt. Col. John Moore led an attack on February 6, 1779 to capture SC Patriot Militia Colonels John Thomas, Sr. and William Wofford and a store of gunpowder at the Thomas Homestead. Patriot Josiah Culbertson, Jane Thomas and her children successfully defended the house and Patriotsí military stores."
