Stevens Creek, South Carolina
5 October 1781
Colonel Williams had set out from Orangeburgh District to raid the Whigs in the neighborhood of Ninety-Six. At Stevens Creek a Patriot force led by Major Hugh Middleton attacked the Loyalists.
After a sharp fight Williams retreated. The Loyalists only had a few minor casualties, but they retreated because Colonel LeRoy Hammond’s main force was nearby.
- PJO: There are two Stevens Creek. One is up in Newberry County and the other is on the Edgefield / McCormick border. Since this event has a relation to the Turkey Creek incident in September, I think this is the Edgefield Stevens Creek. However it is a LONG creek, so I have no idea where it happened.
