  • (A) "Porchers Point" can be seen immediately adjacent to Galliard's Island (on opposite "north" side of Santee River) on both the Cook's 1773 map and on Mouzon's 1775 map. However, the nearest Porcher Plantation is shown halfway to Monck's Corner, about 9.6 miles to the SE. Another Porcher is shown about 18 miles to the SW.


  • (B) "Porchers (plantation)" can be seen on the 1820 Mills Charleston District map approximately 2.1 miles south of "Porchers Point". Note "Porcher Embankment" near Santee River.
