Ogeechee River, Georgia
12 July 1781
Captain Anthony and 20 men from his privateer proceeded up the Ogeechee River on the night of July 12th to capture a schooner laden with rice. Anthony seized a schooner, but before he could get her out to the sea a British galley commanded by Captain Scallan intercepted him. Anthony escaped to the shore with the loss of one man killed and another wounded. The next night he was able to rejoin his privateer.[i]
