- Per the Colonial Records Project article, above, he returned to London and
lived "in New Norfolk Street (Grosvenor Square). He died intestate at the latter
place in March, 1786, at the age of forty-nine, and was buried in St. George’s,
Hanover Square."

Fields is a 70s housing development on the site of the burial ground of St
George Hanover Square
- St George's Fields is a
posh residential area built on burial grounds of St. George's Church. It is
quite a story how a graveyard which had had 94,000 burials, without
removal of remains, had the tombstones removed, covered over and became a
park-like residential area! Since Martin died in 1786 and cemetery opened in
1833, he hopefully missed this bit of "modernization".
