- St George's Fields is a
posh residential area built on burial grounds of St. George's Church. It is
quite a story how a graveyard which had had 94,000 burials, without
removal of remains, had the tombstones removed, covered over and became a
park-like residential area! Since Martin died in 1786 and cemetery opened in
1833, he hopefully missed this bit of "modernization".
