  Hartley’s Creek, South Carolina
  October 1781

  Sometime in 1781, possibly around the month of October, “Bloody Bill” Cunningham massacred twenty-eight Patriots at Hartley Creek. The bodies were dismembered and mutilated. The creek was also known as Hell Hole Creek.
