    1 May 1781

    Henry Hampton’s dragoons surprised a guard of the Prince of Wales American Volunteers at Friday’s Ferry near Fort Granby. Hampton’s men killed thirteen of them. Hampton spotted another party on the road going towards the fort and ambushed them, killing five more.
